Frequently Asked Questions
1. What should I do to prepare for my roof replacement?
Please move vehicles and make space in your driveway or near your home so our suppliers can deliver roofing materials. It’s also helpful to cover or move outdoor furniture, potted plants, grills, or anything valuable around the perimeter of your home.
2. Will it be loud during the roofing process?
Yes. Roof replacements can be loud due to hammering, tearing off shingles, and moving materials. We recommend making alternate arrangements if you work from home or have pets or young children sensitive to noise.
3. Do I need to remove anything from inside my home?
Yes. Please secure or temporarily remove items such as light fixtures, wall art, mirrors, or decorative items (like collectible plates) that could fall due to vibration during the roof work.
4. What about tree branches or landscaping near the house?
If tree branches are in the way of our technicians performing their work safely and properly, we may need to trim them. We also appreciate if you prepare flower beds, patios, and walkways to avoid damage or obstruction.
5. Can my air conditioning lines or wiring be affected?
Vibration during roofing work may affect loose wires or improperly placed HVAC lines. Please check to ensure there are no critical lines directly under the decking and relocate them if needed.
6. What happens if you find rotted decking or wood under my shingles?
Unless stated in the contract, we do not replace rotted roof decking as standard. We won’t know the condition of your decking until we remove the existing roofing. If you’re aware of any prior damage, please let us know in advance.
7. What if I have gutters installed—will they be protected?
We take every precaution to avoid damaging gutters. However, on steep roofs (anything over 8/12 pitch), there’s a chance of minor damage despite our best efforts. We’ll do our best to minimize this.
8. Do you handle solar panels, satellite dishes, or antennas?
These must be removed before we begin work. If you’d like us to handle removal as part of your project, we can include it in your contract. Please inform us before the project starts.
9. What happens to extra roofing materials after the job is complete?
We may have excess materials after your job is done. Any remaining materials are retained and removed by Roof Doctors of DFW Roofing & Construction.
10. How long does a typical roof replacement take?
Most roof replacements are completed within 1 to 2 days, depending on the size of your roof, weather conditions, and the complexity of the project.
11. Can I stay in my home during the roofing project?
Yes, you can stay in your home, but please be prepared for the noise and vibration throughout the day. It’s also a good idea to keep children and pets indoors or away from the work area for their safety.
12. Do you provide free roof inspections?
Yes! We offer free roof inspections to assess the condition of your roof and recommend repair or replacement as needed. Contact us to schedule your inspection.
13. What types of roofing materials do you use?
We work with high-quality roofing materials from trusted suppliers, including asphalt shingles, metal roofing, and other options depending on your needs and preferences.
